Rod Abell - Chief Executive Officer
Rod joined the Group in 2015 as the first 'General Manager - Business Development' following a strategic review of the Group. In 2016, Rod accepted the responsibility to lead the Group as Chief Executive Officer, the first non-family leader since inception in 1927.
Rod is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Directors (GAICD) holding a first class honours degree in Electrical Engineering, an MBA, is an accredited Project Management Professional (PMP), and a licensed electrician. Rod has held executive positions in Engineering, Operations, Sales, Marketing and General Management in organisations including Orica Explosives, Huntsman Chemicals, Ampcontrol, and Schneider Electric.
Michael Sears - Operations Manager, J&R Magnetics & Sydney Site
Michael joined the Group in 1999 completing a dual apprenticeship in Electrical & Mechanical trade. Demonstrating a solid technical grasp of both rotating equipment and industrial electromagnet systems under the mentoring of Peter Hackney & the late Justin Rickard, Michael took leadership of our workshop in Smithfield. Michael now leads all workshop and site operations out of the Smithfield facility, growing our capability to solve customers' complex problems through safe & planned execution and excellent customer service.
Michael has an advanced diploma in Electrical Engineering, and is a licensed Electrician. Michael has a strong technical, manufacturing & service management background in heavy industrial environments, including steel & recycling. He has delivered Electromagnet Systems, Rotating Equipment & Site Service solutions throughout Australia & NZ, many with key clients Liberty Onesteel, Bluescope, SIMS, Bingo, Sell & Parker, and the Department of Defence.
Jaco Esterhuyse - Operations Manager, Dynelec & Unanderra Site
Jaco joined the Group in 2018 with the responsibility to lead and develop further our Design, Engineering Support and Project Management capability. These functions under-pin the Group's purpose to "solve our customer's complex problems".
Jaco holds a degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, a Masters in Business Management, and has a deep background in Electrical & Rotating Machine design. Having worked with some of the world's largest Motor manufacturers in roles including design, project engineering, quality, testing, customer service, and solution sales, Jaco has a record of developing solutions in the Heavy Industrial, Mining & Utility segments.
Steven Andrit - Group Finance Manager & Company Secretary
Steve joined the Group in 2020 following a successful career in the Steel Industry with US Multinational Harsco Metals, based in Wollongong, most recently in the position of Australian Finance Manager. A qualified Accountant, Steve brings a very considered approach to our financial systems, reporting and compliance aspects of the business. Steve also guides continued development of the WHS&E and QA systems of the organisation.
